Raymond and Sheila Floyd from Cheshire are a prime example of a couple who have jointly benefitted from the installation of a stairlift in their home through Dolphin Mobility Manchester.
Cheshire Couple See the Benefits of Stairlift Installation

Sheila, who has multiple sclerosis, had a fall two years ago which resulted in a broken ankle. Whilst recovering she had a subsequent fall, breaking the tibula and fibula in the same leg. According to husband Raymond, she spent nearly a year downstairs, unable to climb the stairs or move freely around the house. “We hoped her condition would improve to the extent that she would, once again, be able to safely go up and down the stairs on her own. However, after 11 months we had to accept that Sheila was going to require assistance in the form of a stairlift and I started researching companies based here in the North West.”
After looking online, the couple invited four companies to visit their home to assess which product would best suit their requirements – and the layout of their stairs. Raymond explains why he chose Dolphin Mobility Manchester: “We decided to go with Dolphin Mobility because the way in which the team represented itself during the initial visit, suggested it was a company in which we could have trust and confidence.
“Since it was a private purchase, we did not want to end up paying for something only to find out it was not suitable. Clair from Dolphin gave us independent advice on choosing the best stairlift for our requirements and the fact they had a showroom which we visited, put them on top of the list. Sheila was able to try some curved stairlifts to assess their ride quality and comfort factor and shortly after our visit we placed an order for a Minivator 200 curved stairlift.”
Clair Wilkinson, Business Development Manager at Dolphin Mobility Manchester, said: “Independent living solutions, such as the one we installed in Mr and Mrs Floyd’s home, allows the user to lead a more independent life which can often lead to an increase in confidence. It also provides the carer with some respite from helping the user up and down the stairs.”
With increasing advances in the design and development of independent living solutions, the installation of a stairlift takes very little time and the end result can often go virtually unnoticed. Raymond explains: “The stairlift was installed in less than half a day, if that. It took from mid morning to lunchtime and was a very neat and seamless installation. Even the subsequent maintenance visit was quick and painless as there was very little to do, and we have had no operational problems since its installation 18 months ago. We hardly notice it is there and we were extremely satisfied with the work that was carried out.”
